Diamonds vs. Pearls

It's been a while, but here I am. Stepped right out from the azaleas and decided to write down a few things.

At lunch today I stopped in at Celebrations, a delightful florist down the street. There are many good things I can say about Celebrations, but the best thing is that it is just plain old delightful.

They have pink and green Lily Pulitzer items, Vera Bradley, china, silver, fresh flowers, collectibles, the list is endless.

One thing I noticed was a new collection of pearl jewelry items. I have always been a pearl girl (note the name of the blog). Someone once asked the question "Diamonds or pearls?" Both are beautiful, but I tend to lean towards things from the sea. The development of a diamond and a pearl are similar. Basically, it takes going through some roughness and patience to become the best you can be. Being who God intended us to be doesn't come easy or overnight.

My heart is with my home state of Alabama and the loss of life recently from a day of deadly tornadoes. The list of victims is long and it could be anyone in my family. Or yours. As hard as it is to imagine why these things happen, there is ultimately a reason.

My Dad says "hindsight is 20/20". When we look back at things we see them clearer and understood why they happened. I look back sometimes to gain some insight on why I am the way I am. What makes me quirky or view something in some odd way? I do this the whole time I am moving forward through life. Wearing my pearls.
